The Science behind CannaPlex's Benefits

Virgin Lungs LLC's CannaPlex™ Supplement was designed specifically to enhance and maintain proper function of the Endocannabinoid(eCB) System, known to facilitate the condition known as 'Runner's High.' The ingredients in our supplement have been shown to complement the absorption and utilization of the bodies endocannabinoids, while promoting proper lung function and respiratory health. Below you'll find a brief synopsis of the research that provided the basis for Virgin Lungs, LLC when creating the CannaPlex™ Supplement.

Tocopherol: Necessary But Not Sufficent

“a-Tocophero), a dietary component of vitamin-E, is well known for its antioxidant capacity (decreased levels of a-tocopherol in the brain are associated with neuronal dysfunctions ranging from mood disorders to neuro-degeneration). Interestingly, the effects were both [found to be] mediated by cannabinoid receptors (CB1Rs), because... a-tocopherol [stopped] suppression of excitation and CB1R agonist-[mediation]... Therefore, we identify a-tocopherol as a new lipid modulator of the cannabinoid system...” The Journal of Free Radical Biology and Medicine

GSPE: Proven Lung Protection

The “effects of GSPE (Grape Seed Proanthocyanidin Extract) on pathological change of smoke inhalation lung injury: The rats[emerged with] typical symptoms of lung injury induced by[repeated] smoke inhalation, such as oral respiration, depression, long time hypoxemia and pathology change of lung injury. [However,] GSPE restrains hypoxemia effectively, enhances the activity of anti-oxidant, lightens pulmonary edema and inflammation. GSPE has significant effect on smoke inhalation pulmonary injury [which] may be related to it’s prominent ability of antioxidation.”* | Effect of Grape Seed Proanthocyanidin Extract in Rats with Smoke Inhalation Pulmonary Injury|Progress in Modern Biomedicine 2010-02|

Myrcene: Just Part of the Puzzle

“b-Myrcene is a mono-terpenoid in cannabis... [shown to be] diminishing [to] inflamation (Lorenzetti et al., 1991)... [capable of] blocking hepatic carcinogenisis... (DeOliveira et al. 1997)... Myrcene is a reconized sedative as part of the hops preperation (Humulas lupulus)(Bisset and Wichtl, 2004) ...Furthermore, mycrene acted as a muscle relaxant in mice, and potentiated barbituarate sleep time at high doses.(do Vale et al., 2002). Together, these data would support the hypothosis that myrcene is a potent sedative terpenoid in cannabis." Ethan D. Proanthocyanidin: Cannabis Catalyst

Proanthocyanidins are the active compounds in our pine bark extract. The extract has been shown to be a more eective antioxidant than either vitamin C or vitamin E, because absorption in the bloodstream only takes 20 minutes and works for up to 72 hours. The extract works synergistically with vitamin C to assist the body in recycling vitamin E, and is one of the select antioxidants that can penetrate the blood-brain barrier to help protect brain tissue. Its active constituants are 20 to 50 times more powerful than vitamins C and E as antioxidants. Pine bark extract is valued for its high levels of oligomeric proanthocyanidins(OPCs), antioxidants that can scavenge free radicals from the human body. Protective effects from environmental stresses such as cigarette smoking and pollution have been noted as has an enhancement of normal metabolic health processes.

“Terpenoids are pharmacologically versatile: they are lipophilic, interact with cell membranes, neuronal and muscle ion channels, neurotransmitter receptors, G-protein coupled (odorant) receptors, secondmessenger systems and enzymes.†”
